I may have mentioned it, but up until this April, I have been going to graduate school. I started back to school when my son Tobin was about 2 years old. I had toyed with the idea of going back to school for some kind of technical degree, but in the end, I realized that I really loved helping people and that I did not want my undergraduate degree to be unused, so I persued my MA in psychological counseling, which I completed this spring!
I celebrated for a moment, but then in typical Alison fashion, was onto my next project, my blogg and Etsy shop. It has been a whirlwind, but I am enjoying it so much. It was not until this past weekend when my son had his Pre K graduation that I was remeinded of my own graduation. I had to pat myself on the back and say, "Wow! That is really awesome!" I think that as adults we don't always take the time to celebrate the things in our lives as we should. More often, we move right to, "oh great, now I have these student loans to pay off!"
I was thrilled to celebrate my son's (and my own) graduation this past weekend! I took a lesson from him in how to honor one's accomplishments. I am of the opinion that education is never a waste or something that we should regret... even with the looming student loan payments. I was so happy to celelbrate with my son and give him the chance to see how wonderful and special it is to have an education, to begin something and complete it. As for me, I really enjoyed my time at school and especially enjoyed my internship. I am not sure when I will have to opportunity to use my degree, but I am so happy to know that I have it and can use it when I am ready.
My little man, congratulations! I am so proud of you! You have done so well in pre school, and I have loved seeing what you have learned there and at home and how all of your experiences have enriched your life. You are more amazing than I can explain and I know that whatever you set out to do in this world, you will be a success! Thank you for being my teacher and my wonderful loving boy.

Yeah Alison! Congrats to you and Tobin. It feels nice to complete a chapter, doesn't it?

Congratulations on your MA, what an amazing achievement. It is really nice to see someone being positive about their child's educational experience (outside of homeschooling families) as my son is starting JK in September. We are from overseas so the North American system is new to us. It made me smile to see your little guy graduating and your pleasure in his success.
Thanks!

Thank you for reading, posting and your warm wishes!
I think school at any age has it's pros and cons...but to me, with the support and love of a family, that is the perfect recipe for preparation for the rest of the world! We take it a day at a time : ) Tobin will be starting kindergarten in september...I'm sure I will have plenty of "adventures" to post about then!
