Ever since my daughter was born, I have been trying to grow out my hair. Actually, I was trying to grow out my hair while I was pregnant with her, but within weeks of giving birth, I managed to get my hands on a pair of scissors and cut off the hair. Apparently, my husband did not get the memo that scissors should be hidden from hormonal pregnant women.
So this last time, I made some real hair growth progress, but before long, I was messing around with hair color and by the time I was through, I needed the haircut! But guess what, I am loving the haircut!! Yes, it is so rare that that phrase will come out of my mouth, but I speak the truth! I love being a girl and although I do most of the mani-pedi...even waxing myself, there is nothing better than getting a great haircut! I'd probably cut my own hair too if I had not learned the hard way...a couple of times...that I can NOT cut my own hair!
Actually, I knew this haircut and color was a sure thing...I have been wearing this cut way before posh spice! I was just so tired of living in the "waiting place". You know the feeling, "I can't for the baby to be born", "I can't wait for the holidays", "I can't wait for my hair to grow out"...you know how it goes.
What I can't understand is why I would have wanted to change my hair style in the first place? This style has always worked well for me... It makes me wonder how many other things we change because we are just in the mood for something new, or things are just not as exciting? How many jobs have been quit or relationships ended just because we think we want something else? Only to find out later that maybe the boring, not always exciting was actually where it was at?
I am pretty darn grateful for knowing what works for me, whether it is my hair, my marriage, or my friendships...there is somthing about being able to trust in something or someone that is so comforting. Yes, new and exciting will always come in a far last place when up against what is real and true...and the truth is that this haircut rocks!
Have a great weekend!
