I wasn't kidding when I wrote that for us {the kiddos, really} to have a good time in the heat of the summer, we just need to add some water! Where we live {just a couple of miles from the coast} there are all beach clubs. Some of these clubs cost thousands of dollars to be a member of each year, but lucky for us, the beach club in the town I grew up in {10 minutes from where we live now}, where my parents still live, is wonderfully affordable for it's residents. Thank you Mimi!
I am happy with the amount of times that I was able to get to the beach this summer...alone with 2 little ones. However, as the summer drew on, my little ones became more and more brave when it came to the ocean. After a couple of scarey moments, I decided that unless I had another adult to help me out, I was going to stick to the pool! This has turned out to be a wonderful plan and I only wished that I started doing this earlier in the season! By skipping the sand and spending just one day kiddie pool side, we get in extra days outside where the kids can really enjoy the summer season {and mama can not loose her mind!}
Getting everything together and getting out of the house to do something outdoors-ey with the kiddos is no easy task when it is 90'+ with 90% humidity! I know the pool is not the same as the beach in it's "nature value scale", but to me, we are all still outside! And isn't the most important thing that we are having FUN when we are spending time outdoors? Good times are what make good memories for kids and will keep them wanting to spend their time outside and in nature...pool or beach, atleast they are not in front of the television!

This looks so wonderful! We spent a lot of time at our parks splash pad last week, we had the same weather as you by the sounds of it and water was necessary! I'd love to have something like this pool so close, it looks amazing and I bet the beans love it. The 'not being swept away to sea' factor is also a bonus ; )

Right on, we don't need any heart attacks with the ocean waves crashing about! Spray parks are so fun...there is only 1 near us, and it is still a ways away, so we only brave it a couple of times a season...I'm so ready for this heat to pass! Thumbs up to us for getting out there to make the most of these last couple of weeks!

We have been battling the heat by filling the old baby pool (way too small for the kids now) and putting it on the porch so it is in the shade. Then I let the girls throw in a bunch of their plastic dolls (swim class, bathtub, etc) or doll clothes (laundromat) and let them pretend. They are outside, out of the sun, getting wet and having a ton of fun.
(I was going to say that next year at the beach will be a whole different story once Sophia is 3 ... it is so much easier this year for me now that they are 3 and 5 ... but you will have your hands pretty full with a new little sand-eater!)

I can't believe this humidity! I can't stand being outside without plenty of water nearby. The MB Beachclub is so sweet. I really enjoy myself when we get together there.

So right you are! I'll be looking for a little mama's helper for next year.
