I have had a serious craving to finish up, or freshen up our bedroom. We have beautiful bedroom furniture and a comforter that I just adore, but when it came to the walls, well, there was something missing... This was because when we rennovated our home a couple of years ago, in order to keep costs down, we did as much of the work on our own as possible. This included priming and painting the walls, ceilings, closets and woodwork in the space that was more than double what our living space originally was! Oh, it was such a labor of love! When it came to paint, I chose one beautiful color {since our kitchen and family room are one great space and also flow into the downstairs hallway and stairwell}, and have loved the way the lighting in the different spaces of our home has given each wall it's own depth. This was not the case for the bedroom.
I did choose a gold color for the bedroom first, but it was just horrible for this space! I was so disappointed! Luckily, I had a "go to color", which we had used in our living room years ago. I LOVE this color and was pretty much kicking myself that I had not just gone with this color first! I felt that a silver accent {for picture frames, etc.} would work better that the gold that we had. I dug out the old silver frames that we had used in the living room when it was painted this color and took the pictures and glass out of the gold ones that were currently in the bedroom and spray painted them silver. It was such a small thing to do, but it made such a big difference!
My husband's birthday was the perfect excuse to look for a new piece of art work for above the bed, and adding more photographs to the walls definately has us heading in the right direction. Everyone loves the new color and I find that we are all spending more time in this room than we had prior to the painting. I still have a few things on my "to do" list for this space, but they will come together in time. In my attempt to simplify my life, I'm pretty happy that I have a couple of paint colors that I really love and am sure to remember the names of. Over the winter, browse some paint chips and bring some home to see what colors look good in your lighting, {this was the problem with the gold, I picked it out in the store without checking it at home}. This way, when you are feeling the urge to nest, or just freshen things up, you'll have some colors handy to get your project started!

I love the colour and I love your bed. I'm on a big simplification/reorganisation kick right now, I think we are beginning to sense the end of summer. Soon it will be the busy harvest and then the hunker down of winter. Another cycle, another season...and soon another baby ; )

Thank you, thank you, and too right you are. So much to be busy with! I am trying to stay in the moment and attempting to enjoy the last weeks before September...but I feel like a kid before christmas!
