When I was a new mama to my son Tobin, I used to spend many an afternoon sitting at Border's, reading through their magazines while my little guy slept. This was when I came across Martha Stewart's magazines and came to realize just how many wonderful things could be crafted at home! It was not long before I bought myself a subscription and each month would wait with anticipation for the newest issue to arrive. I would look over each page again and again. Before long, I had a pretty large collection, ahem, STACK of magazines.
In an effort to eliminate these piles of magazines, I began going through them again, ripping out only the pages that I wanted to keep. Next I sorted them into 3 piles: recipes, home/crafts and kids. I purchased three binders and some clear plastic sleeves from the store and got to work trimming my pages and organizing them into the binders.
This was probably one of the best things I could have done to preserve all of the wonderful ideas I came across. As the years have gone by, I have added ideas from other magazines and recipes from friends that I have re-typed up and printed out. I must admitt that it is more difficult for me to be organized enough to get individual items into the binders. This was a much easier {and highly rewarding} task when I had a huge pile of ripped out pages ready to be sorted. So whether you are just getting started, or like myself, have a large pile of of magazines waiting to be tackled, I highly suggest giving this a go. You'll be so pleased with how easy it is to find exactly what craft or recipe you're looking for when they are all collected into one place!
Happy sorting!
