September has arrived and Tobin will be starting kindergarten in less than a week now. We are all so excited and he could not be more ready for this next step! It is very strange for me in that my little one's have never really been away from me, only for a couple of mornings a week in preschool! When Tobin began preschool, it was an adjustment for me {and ofcourse kindergarten will take some adjusting to also}, however what I'm thinking about most is how lucky I am to have this one on one time to spend with Sophia.
The fall season and it's holidays and celebrations have a way of making the time feel as if it were flying by. In some ways, I feel like just as Sophia is able to have my undivided attention {with her big brother in school}, there will suddenly be a new baby here for her to share my time with. After a moment of panic and guilt, I am able to recognize that I am being a bit dramatic! I decided that the best thing I could do was to set up some activities for Sophia and I that we could begin in the fall and contiue way after the new baby has arrived. So many private kiddie classes in our area cost a ridiculous amount of money, however, we have a wonderful county park system that offers a variety of classes and activities for both adults and children, at a wonderful rate! Each week until late November, Sophia and I will be attending a little "class" on monday mornings. I was also able to register for a couple of other 1 day activities for us to attend as well as another craft class later in the season.
Another item on our agenda is the story time that is offered in our local library each week, free of charge! There are different times offered for different age groups, so both of my little ones' will be able to benefit from this activity. Needless to say, I am very happy with what we have planned for this autumn season. I feel that I have activities for both of the kiddos that keeps them involved with the community, their friends and me, while not overwhelming our lives with too many programs. It is amazing how fast time can pass by and how grown up and independent these little ones have become over the summer! I urge you to look into what is offered by your county park system, or by your local town and library. These resources might just offer an activity for you to share with that special little person in your life.
Have a lovely Labor Day weekend!

Yes, yes, and yes! We often do the "10 mile rule" in our house-- seeking a day full of adventure within 10 miles of our house. While we live in a rural area, we are blessed to be alongside a lakeshore and in a community that highly values protected open spaces, trail systems, good libraries, and free-- hooray for free-- nature programs for children and adults alike. Not only is it good for us to celebrate what's in our own backyard, it brings lots of special moments with our kids that hopefully inspire them to love small town, natural living life! Sending lots of good juju for the kindergarten send off....I remember that with my firstborn-- lots of excitement and emotion and awe at just how very fast they grow!

I am really feeling how fast time flies by right now! It is amazing that after all of the "thinking about" kindergarten begining, that it is finally here! It seems that with all of the excitement, this duo has been getting into it more frequently...I know the time apart, spending time in school and activities with kiddos thier own age, will be good for them.
How exciting, Kindergarten orientation is this morning! I can't wait to meet some of the new classmates and their mamas and find out more about what these little one's will be learning this year!
Thanks for posting! I so enjoy hearing about how others have created a wonderful, full experience for their little ones without signing them up for activiites that cost hundreds of dollars each month! It can be done!!
