With baby #3 on the way in less than three months and the holiday season apon us, we are trying to get things as organized as possible...atleast as far as rooms go! Since we know that we are expecting a baby boy, we prepared Tobin's room for having a crib in it... once the baby is in his own crib. As for our little miss, we deided to convert her crib into a big girl bed...
Baby furniture can be such a huge expense, but with the invention of the crib that converts into a bed, well, after seeing the transformation with my own eyes, I'd have to say it was worth it! Since we were moving furniture anyway, I thought we might take advantage of the room being pulled apart and paint as well. Sophia and I are both big fans of yellow and I though that the furniture would really pop against a soft yellow wall. I happened to have this quilt from when John and I were first married and it worked perfectly.
I think something that really helps keep a room looking neat is in trying to keep the colors uniformed. We took apart this little dollhouse book case and spray painted all of the parts that were pink, well, yellow ofcourse. Then there was this sweet little bird wall hanging that I just loved...but like everything else in my baby girl's old room, it was pink. I took out some acrylic paints and just painted over the pink and added some brown to keep the vintage look. Once it was dry, we put some clear coat over it to give it shine. I was really rather pleased woith myself...
So one room down. It is still a bit empty for my liking, but the tough part is done and I am looking foward to taking my time with deciding exactly what to hang on the walls, etc. We are all very happy with the results of our work!
